In what proved to be a very captivating encounter, two schools battled for top honours in the first of four preliminary competitions in this year’s DAT Primary Schools Spelling Competition. In the end, Lighthouse Christian Academy edged out Sineku Primary School by a Meagre ten (10 points) which translate to, one word.
Representing Lighthouse Christian Academy were: Dimitri Benjamin who amassed a total of 230 points and Amelia Jno. Baptiste who totaled 220 points. Meanwhile Sineku Primary was represented by Kailan Cabey who scored 220 points and Jahlyn Valmond who also scored 220 points.
The final scores were Lighthouse Christian Academy 450 points and Sineku Primary School 440 points. Both schools have secured a spot in the finals and all four students are on their way to the “Champ of the Champs” Competition.
